An African Lion Ontario Safari?

An African lion safari in the heart of Canada? You heard right!

Nestled about an hour from Toronto and one and a half hours from the mighty Niagara Falls is African Lion Ontario Safari... a veritable "jurassic park" situated in Cambridge, Canada. Since 1969, African Lion Safari park has been tantilising visitors with the african safari spirit. There's more than 100 species of animals and the park's mission has been to self sustain those species of animals whose numbers are dwindling. And you know, they've been doing this successfully for nearly 40 years.

The beauty of African Lion Ontario Safari park is that it is not a zoo in the traditional sense. The animals roam around over a large area and in fact, it is the visitors who are caged. Well, for their own safety at least. You see, park visitors are kept in their cars but get the experience of getting as close to the animals in their natural environment. While the experience of being in the same area as animals such as the king of beasts, the lion, is exhilirating, the educational aspect of a person's visit to the park should not be underestimated.

Did You Know?

African Lion Ontario Safari Park has a multitude of animals as attractions. These obviously include the lion. But did you know they have no less than four southern white rhino. The white rhino population was almost wiped out in the 1800's however, with the co-operation of conservationists and governments, they've bounced back to number about 12,000 in the wild. But there is still a lot of work to ensure their survival and African Lion Safari Park is doing it's bit for the white rhinos of the world.

Education And Entertainment Options

On the visitor trail, people will encounter not only lions but baboons, zebras, white rhino, ostrich, giraffes and any number of fascinating mammals and birds. You'll feel like you are on a real african safari adventure without actually being on the mighty african continent.

There are plenty of entertainment options provided by African Lion Ontario Safari park. For example, visitors are presented with a jungle playground; there is an elephant round up demonstration, a fascinating parrot show and a fun scenic railway tour. It may pay to check with the park on the availability of some of the entertainment as it could be seasonal.

At some stage during the visit those hunger pains are likely to set in and the park is well catered for in the food area with a couple of licensed restaurants.

Whatever your reason for visiting African Lion Ontario Safari park I can't stress enough the educational quality the experience will provide. It's not just about looking and being close to animals in the wild but learning about them. The park continues it's fantastic mission of providing a self-sustaining environment for these magnificent creatures. I'm glad I discovered a little bit of Africa in another part of the world.
